Learnerships

A learnership is a work based learning programme that results in the learner earning an NQF registered qualification on completion. They are typically 12 to 18 months long and are made up of theoretical (in-classroom learning) and practical (work experience) components.

As a sponsor, you need to run learnerships in order to maximise your B-BBBE scorecard, and you can also claim rebates on both your PAYE and income tax liabilities.

Bursaries

A bursary is a study programme that is financially sponsored by a company, educational institution or any other funding institution, to qualifying learners who are looking to further their studies. This means that the funder pays the study fees of the learner(s) so they can study and gain a higher qualification.

Sponsoring bursaries is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme, helps the company develop a talent pipeline of specific skills, promotes diversity and inclusion, and creates brand awareness to set a company apart.

YES Programmes

YES Prorgrammes are a collaborative effort between the government and businesses to create quality work opportunities for unemployed, black youth on a contractual basis. The aim is to empower, uplift and upskill the youth by placing them into jobs that are specially created for them.

YES is gazetted as it’s own categories of jobs that contribute to their B-BBEE targets, giving companies a new way to improve their scorecard.
